Guessing
Hey, I just wanted to say hi
Say, do you know what you want
With this one life?
I know you’re just eight
But do you think life is about fate?
When I look in your eyes
I see you drowning in whys
Seems we all share this same pie
And everyone is so broken
God, why is everyone so broken?
We’re all just looking for a little love
But we say we have time
to have fun, feel like a dove
I can’t even tell if we take it too far
Neither do I know where to start
It’s all circular, and I’m dizzy
I could ask for help, but I’m busy
Does globalization mean no boundaries?
We make we small to fit in
Thinking happiness is tied to injuries
Following the luminaries
Hey, I know you’re just twenty-eight
But can people just walk in and out of our heart?
Like it’s a milestone, not a cornerstone
We are all just walking in the dark
Hoping we stumble on someplace like home
Or just anywhere we can leave a mark
It seems we’ve made the pain and the hurt art
Most of the time I’m in my mind
Self-aware but no personality
Borrowing it from what I consume
Maybe that would make me a little cool
But when I’m alone I feel cold
We have dreams that give us nightmares
Even our parents don’t know what is right
They are just older kids in the night
Stuck between fight or flight
And it feels like we can’t be saved
Can’t even learn a lesson in school
We are always repeating the same mistakes
And now that we are fifty-eight
I ask you once again
What do you want death to find?
when you don’t expect much from life
and your life expectancy conceives
a dying soul that learns
that time was only there to deceive
We are all guessing, no concierge
In this one life you are the pioneer
Follow the leader till the edge
and at ninety-eight
this will have been a pledge
